HOW TO ENTER


  • Send your entry to competitions@etrust.org.uk
  • Entrants must state their name, age, school year, and parent or guardian’s name (if under 16) included within the email.
  • Entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian if you are under 16. Check the Terms & Conditions below for guidance on the format of your entry.
  • Tell us how you'll use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) to reach a big destination in your life. Entries can be in any form (posters, models (physical or virtual), short stories, comic strips, etc) but MUST be suitable for displaying on an A1-sized poster. Go for big, bold and colourful, rather than small details.




TERMS AND CONDITIONS


1. How to participate

Entry to this competition is free.

All entries must include your name, email address, postal address (including postcode), and telephone number. By entering this competition you are giving EDT & Network Rail permission to use & promote your entry, along with your name and age in any promotional material.

By entering the competition, entrants and their parents/guardians confirm the submission is solely the work of the entrant.

You must obtain the consent of your parent or guardian to enter the competition and their consent to attend experiences.

You may only submit one entry to this promotion. Entries over the maximum number of entries will be void and will not be entered into this promotion.

Entries that do not comply with these promotion rules will be void and will not be entered into this promotion

2. Closing date

The closing date for this promotion will be 23:59 on 7th March 2022. Entries received by the promoter after this time will be void and will not be entered into this promotion.

3. Selection of the winner

The winners of the competition will be based on the submission and content chosen by a panel of judges, to be the most creative and innovative out of all entries correctly submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions.

All entries will be judged anonymously, and winners will be chosen at the absolute discretion of the judges. EDT & Network Rail cannot provide feedback on unsuccessful entries.

The winners will be announced following the deadline and the winning entrants (over 16) or adult(s) submitting the entry (under 16) will be notified by email.

4. Prize

There are no alternative prizes.

The prize is non-transferable and does not include any additional costs and expenses.

5. Restrictions and requirements

Please note the following restrictions and requirements apply:

You must be a UK resident

You must be aged 11-19

The competition is not open to employees of Network Rail or anyone professionally connected with the competition. Employees of the promoter are ineligible to enter this promotion.

You must obtain the consent of your parent or guardian to enter this competition and their consent to attend the experience day(s).

6. Notification of the results and receipt of the prize

The winners will be notified via the contact details provided by the end of April 2022

7. Publicity and personal information

The promoter will use your personal information only in accordance with these terms and conditions and our privacy policy a copy of which is available here:

The name and county/city of the winner will be published by end of April 2022.

If you do not want your surname and county/city included on the list of winners referred to above, you must notify the promoter a reasonable period of time before the closing date of the promotion.

You acknowledge that you may be asked to participate in publicity if you are selected as a winner. Parental consent will also be required.

8. General

Entries in unsuitable formats or with incomplete information will be disqualified without notice, so please double-check before you send.

Entries must be submitted via a scanned photo in colour, saved as a JPEG (short stories may be submitted as a text document; digital entries may be submitted via a screenshot).

For visual entries (i.e. posters, models): include a maximum of 100 words explaining how your entry shows how you'll use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) to reach a big destination in your life.

For short stories: include a picture illustrating your story.

For videos: keep to a maximum time of 1 minute and 30 seconds. If you are under 16, ask for your parent or guardian’s permission before sharing a recording of yourself with anyone.

Entrants acknowledge that copyright in submissions will be owned by the promoter. Entrants agree to assign to the promoter all intellectual property rights in the submission with full title guarantee and to waive their moral rights.

While nothing in these terms and conditions will limit the promoter’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence or for fraud, the promoter will not be legally responsible to entrants or winners for any losses that were not foreseeable to the promoter or to the entrant at the time of entry to the promotion or which are caused by a third party.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England, although if you are resident elsewhere you will retain the benefit of any mandatory protections given to you by the laws of the country in which you live.

Any disputes shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. As this clause is non-exclusive, you can choose whether to bring a claim in the courts of England or in the courts of another part of the UK in which you live.




ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE


  • A destination you’d like to reach using STEM (this could be your dream job, a big problem you’d like to solve, an amazing invention you’d like to build… let your imagination run wild!)
  • A description of how you will use STEM to reach your destination (maybe you’ll need to use your engineering skills to build something, learn lots about chemistry so you can brew a fantastic potion, or study astronomy to go travelling in space!).
